Transparency & accuracy
MintedUK fees shown here are proposed launch pricing and may change before launch. MintedUK is not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is added to our fees. Figures exclude the Pro tier's £19/month subscription and, on the Casual tier, listing fees beyond the first 300 listings a month.
Competitor figures are illustrative estimates based on each platform's publicly listed UK fees, last verified on 26 July 2026, and exclude optional add-ons (promoted listings, ads, offsite fees, VAT on fees where applicable, currency conversion). eBay's final value fee varies by category, and Etsy's listing fee is a US dollar amount converted to pence, so both are shown as a representative rate. Always verify current fees on the linked official pages before making a decision. MintedUK is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Vinted, Etsy or eBay; brand names are used solely for lawful comparative reference. How marketplace fees actually work
Every UK marketplace takes its cut in a slightly different way, which makes headline percentages misleading. Some charge the seller a commission on the item price and postage. Others charge the buyer a protection fee on top of your asking price, which keeps your payout intact but pushes up the total your buyer pays — and that affects how quickly items sell.
Card processing is the other hidden cost. A percentage plus a fixed pence charge applies to the whole transaction, including postage, so low-value items lose proportionally more. The calculator above accounts for this so the take-home figure is the real number that lands in your account.
On MintedUK, preloved sellers keep 100% of the item price, business sellers on the Casual Trader tier get 300 free listings a month, and Artisan and Pro are optional paid upgrades rather than requirements. Join the waiting list to be told when we launch.
Selling fee questions
How do I work out eBay fees in the UK?
Enter your item price and postage in the calculator above and choose the seller type that matches you. The comparison column shows the platform's seller fees, any buyer-side fees, and the amount you would take home after they are deducted.
Which UK marketplace has the lowest selling fees?
It depends on what you sell. Preloved sellers usually pay nothing on the item price but buyers pay a buyer protection fee; handmade and business sellers pay a commission instead. Run the same item price through each option above to see the real take-home difference.
Are buyer fees included in this comparison?
Yes. The calculator separates seller fees from buyer-side fees so you can see both the amount you receive and the total your buyer pays at checkout.
Does MintedUK charge a monthly listing fee?
No. Preloved and Casual Trader selling has no monthly fee. Artisan and Pro are optional upgrades for sellers who want extra features such as a storefront, analytics and lower commission.
